Basic Rider Courses

Learn to Operate A Motorcycle Safely

  • Choose from one of our two types of motorcycle safety courses.
  • Small class sizes so you get individualized attention for the most effective training.
  • Learn from experienced RiderCoaches on our motorcycles, which are low to the ground, lightweight, and easy to maneuver.
  • Learning to operate a motorcycle will give you the confidence you need.

Basic RiderCourse (BRC1)

  • Designed for beginner or intermediate riders.
  • Cost of course – $325
  • FREE MSF online Basic e-Course
  • Must complete MSF’s online Basic e-Course (takes about 3 hrs)
  • You do not need a motorcycle temps for this course.
  • 2- or 3-Day Course:  5 hours of classroom instruction (Thursday nights), 10 hours of range exercises (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Range exercises will be ridden in a controlled environment to provide a safe place to learn how to operate a motorcycle.
  • Motorcycles, helmets, eye protection, and full-fingered gloves are provided to student.
  • Upon successful completion, students will be registered at WISDOT, which will entitle them to obtain their motorcycle license (class M endorsement).
  • If under 18 you must have a parent or guardian sign the MSF-RiderCourse Waiver during class time; otherwise, you may get it notarized prior to the start of your class.

Basic RiderCourse 2 (BRC2)

  • Designed for “experienced” riders who already possess riding skills and are either returning to riding or seeking a refresher course to practice and renew their riding skills.
  • Cost of course – $180
  • FREE MSF online Street Strategies e-Course
  • Must complete MSF’s online Street Strategies e-Course (takes about 2 hours)
  • 1-Day Course:  3 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of motorcycle riding exercises (either all day Saturday or all day Sunday)
  • Students use their own licensed motorcycle
  • Bring along proof of registration and insurance
  • Motorcycle temps required for this course
  • Upon successful completion, students will be registered at WISDOT, which will entitle them to obtain their motorcycle license (class M endorsement).

Choose The Course That Best Fits Your Personal Needs & Schedule

For your convenience, we offer BRC1 classes every weekend from April through October.

There are only six BRC2 courses offered starting in May and ending in October.

Upon successful completion, students will be registered at WISDOT, which will entitle them to obtain their motorcycle license (class M endorsement).

Also, upon successful completion, you will be issued an MSF completion card for insurance discounts.

You will enjoy learning and feel more confident operating your motorcycle.

Basic e-Course or Street Strategies e-Course – Important!

Please complete MSF’s online Basic e-Course within 30 days of taking the BRC1 class.

Please complete MSF’s online Street Strategies e-Course within 30 days of taking the BRC2 course.

The cost of the online e-Courses are included in our prices of $325 (BRC1) and $180 (BRC2).

Upon signing-up for one of our classes, you will receive a separate e-mail from the Motorcycle Safety Foundation for either MSF’s Basic or Street Strategies online e-Course.

Students should bring their Basic e-Course or Street Strategies completion certificate to class with them.
